Community Strengths and Needs Assessment
In 2019, a Department of Women and Gender Equality Canada grant program for Canada's 2SLGBTQ+ community was opened to eligible organizations like OUTniagara. We were successful in our application and awarded $299,941 to complete vital community-led research to better the lives of Niagara's 2S&LGBTQQIA+ community through the project, Informed, Inclusive, Indivisible: Collectively Advancing 2SLGBTQ+ Equality in Niagara+.
Through the process we consulted and received feedback from:
- 480 Niagara citizens, the majority of which are members of the 2S&LGBTQQIA+ community
- 22 Service providers, organizations and agencies whose work already supports Niagara’s 2S&LGBTQQIA+ people and communities
- Regional Advisory Committee of up to 30 community members
A Community Strengths and Needs Assessment report was created to give voice to the hundreds of perspectives and lived experiences collected through that research, highlighting where the strengths lie, and providing 24 recommendations for change in Niagara.
As an organization, we can’t complete all of the recommendations, but we can partner, advocate, and encourage the bodies that can.
Below you'll find links to Niagara's community groups, social services and health, and OUTniagara's extensive resources.

A pillar of OUTniagara’s Values is collaboration with our community partners in Niagara.

We keep an up-to-date directory of community partners so that anyone in Niagara can find the information and help that they need.
