2nd Annual Speaking with Pride 2024 (by Pride Niagara in Partnership with Brock University)

Pride Niagara is partnering with Brock University Professional and Continuing Studies to present the 2nd annual Speaking with Pride Professional Development and Networking Event.

This education session is for 2SLGBTQ+ positive organizations, individuals and allies who want to enhance and/or improve their Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging practices; as well as individuals who want to inspire change in their workplace or advance their career to foster change.

This year’s theme for Speaking with Pride is “Championing Diversity”.

Attendees will hear from Keynote speaker – Brock McGillis, a former OHL Hockey player who is now a 2SLGBTQ+ advocate and EDI consultant. Also included in this year’s event is the option to join one of two breakout learning sessions.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Brock McGillis is a former OHL and professional hockey player, and is the first openly gay men’s professional hockey player and a leading activist in the LGBTQ+ space. His continuous work to shift the conversation around sports and the LGBTQ+ community earned him recognition as one of The Hockey News 100 most influential people in hockey for 2022. Alongside international speaking engagements and educational content, Brock hosts a digital series with World of Wonder, the creator of Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Brock has a BA in Communication and Sports Communication from Laurentian University and is certified in EDI from Cornell University.

UPDATE: The flag raising ceremony at Brock may occur as an optional portion of this event either before or after Speaking with Pride and will be held as a separate alternative event.
